In Terwolde you cycle past the small but charming medieval village church. The Matanze estate near Terwolde probably dates from the seventeenth century. It was a country estate, intended as a (summer) residence for the wealthy to live in and not as a defensive structure. The IJssel is beautiful with the floodplains and the pleasant bustle of ships and pleasure boats on the water. Take a break in the Hanseatic city of Deventer, one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. In the pleasant city centre you can fully enjoy the centuries-old streets and monuments. You cross the IJssel again with a ferry. Just before Twello you see the Holthuis, a rectangular country house that was built in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In the village itself you can admire the fifteenth-century village church.
