Description
This cycling route through the open Frisian meadow landscape takes you past three nature reserves managed by Natuurmonumenten: Skrok, Skrins and the Lionserpolder. All located in the Greidhoek: the Frisian Clay Meadow area located between the cities of Franeker, Leeuwarden, Bolsward and Sneek.
De Greidhoek is known for its vast meadow landscape with rich terp villages. The Middelzee used to run through here. The low-lying land in combination with an 'old sea' makes it a bird paradise for, among others, the Black-tailed Godwit.
Natuurmonumenten organizes various excursions to the three areas every year. Check out their website for information and dates.
