Description
From the water sports village of Langweer you can cycle to Joure in half an hour. You cross with a ferry at Boornzwaag. Then you cycle the beautiful road along the water of the Langweerder Wielen. This lake is part of the Frisian Lakes.
Once in Joure you can safely get off. There is plenty to see and experience here. You can visit Museum Joure, located on the spot where the coffee and tea company Douwe Egberts started, or take part in the Joure Village Walk organized by Het Gilde Joure.
From Joure you leave for Sint Nicolaasga. On the way you pass the village of Scharsterbrug. In Sint Nyk (as the Frisians call it) you cycle past the beautiful Roman Catholic Sint Nicolaasga Church. The church is a neo-Gothic cross basilica from 1887 and was designed by the Frisian architect Jan Doedes van der Weide, a student of the famous Cuypers.
From Sint Nicolaasga you cycle back to Langweer via Finkeburen and the Legemeesterweg.
