Your route starts at Sittard station. You will soon drive through Sittard City Park, beautifully situated in the Geleenbeek valley. In historic Elsloo you will pass the beautiful Elsloo Castle. Further on you will see Stein Castle, where the ruins of a marlstone keep from 1200 are located. Get off at Gasterie de Fontein, right next to it! You drive back via nice small villages and Geulle Castle. The current castle is only the outer bailey of the seventeenth-century castle that was demolished. You drive back via the Kollenberg. The St. Rosa Chapel was built at the highest point in 1675, dedicated to Rosa van Lima, the patroness of Sittard. During the time of the goat riders, robbers often gathered in the chapel.
