Description
Your route starts at Gasterie de Fontein. First you take a tour through and around Meers, a beautiful village between the Juliana Canal and the Maas. Here you will discover Woodhenge Meers: a wooden structure in the shape of Stonehenge, made with excavated remains of trees that emerged during gravel extraction. The oldest tree dates back to 2425 BC! Get off at Kaffee Meels in Sweikhuizen. Around Elsloo you cycle through the hilly landscape for which South Limburg is known. In the historic village itself you will pass the beautiful Elsloo Castle. A little further on you will pass Stein Castle just before the end of the route. The moated castle consists of the ruins of a marlstone keep from 1200. Be sure to take a look around here!
