Tour of Balk and Balksterbos

From Herberg Boswijck B&B you can take a walk through the picturesque center of Balk, a beautiful old town. You will experience a wonderful historic atmosphere here. In the village, milk from the surrounding farms used to be processed into butter and further traded. The river Luts flows right through it, here you will find a lot of fun with terraces, shops and passing boats. This beautiful village inspired the poet Herman Gorter to write his poem May. You walk back through the Balksterbos, a young forest that borders Balk. You mainly see coniferous and deciduous trees. There are many paths so that the residents of Balk can walk a different route each time. Many birds live in the forest, such as nuthatches and tree creepers. Sparrowhawk and jay breed here.
