Tour of Epen and Mechelen

You walk along the beautifully meandering Geul to Epen. The Geul Valley is one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Netherlands, and you will soon see why. The water has carved steep banks into this basin between the hills, a sight that is beautiful to behold from the path along the riverbank. In Schweiberg, the centuries-old half-timbered houses give you the feeling that time has stood still here. You will see many small chapels, square farmhouses, and field crosses in the authentic rolling landscape. A little further on, you pass the Onderste Molen, which also stands on the Geul. This grain mill originally dates back to the thirteenth century. In picturesque Mechelen, you will see even more characteristic half-timbered houses; the church stands on a church hill.
