Tour of the Kootwijkerzand lookout tower

Your route starts at Camping Huttopia de Veluwe. You walk straight through the forests of the Veluwe to the Kootwijkerzand: a desert-like sand plain of about 700 hectares where plants reach full maturity under harsh conditions. From the 13.5 meter high Kootwijkerzand lookout tower you have a beautiful view of this largest active sand drift in Western Europe. After your visit to the lookout tower, you cross the sandy plain, so you really notice how big it is here. The wide plain forms a great contrast with the quiet, dense forests of Boswachterij Kootwijk. Sometimes you walk under the canopy of deciduous trees, other times you see fragrant conifers everywhere around you. A beautifully varied area that you can fully enjoy with this walk!
