Your route starts at Het Erf Terras Herberg't Hengeveld. With this route you explore the eastern Achterhoek and the border area with Germany. You cycle through the typical bocage landscape of this region, a beautiful cycling area. In the border village of Dinxperlo there is the beautiful St. Liborius Church, the tower dates from 1400. A little further on you will pass Anholt Castle. The origins of the impressive moated castle date back to the twelfth century. A museum has been opened in the castle. Here you will find the largest private collection of paintings in North Rhine-Westphalia, including Dutch masters such as Rembrandt. Also take a look at the Anholter Switzerland, the landscape park that belongs to Anholt Castle. At the end of the nineteenth century, the lord of the castle had a copy of Lake Lucerne in Switzerland built here, to scale of course. He also had a Swiss chalet and a rock formation recreated.
