Tour of the dunes and bunkers near Groot-Valkenisse

Your route starts at Holiday Park Duinzicht. This walk takes you through the impressive dunes between Zoutelande and Dishoek. In the hamlet of Groot Valkenisse you walk through the forests that lie at the bottom of the dunes. It is nice and fresh and quiet here. That used to be different: you can still see many remains of the Second World War here. Various bunkers are hidden in the dunes. At the place where the footpath crosses the cycle path you come across the characteristic dragon's teeth that blocked tanks from passing. The dunes are extremely high here: the top is about thirty-six metres. At the top you will see that your effort was worth it: you have a magnificent panorama of the sea, Zoutelande and the polders of Walcheren.
