Tour of Domburg and Middelburg

Your route starts at Holiday Park Duinzicht. In Westkapelle you will pass Hoge Vuurtoren. This almost 50 meter high tower from 1470 originally served as a church tower. A light was set up in 1817, and the accompanying church burned down in 1831. On the Market Square of the pleasant seaside resort of Domburg you can see the former town hall from 1567 and the fifteenth-century church. Between Domburg and Oostkapelle you drive a bit through De Manteling. This beautiful nature reserve is rich in old country estates of the former Middelburg elite. They spent their summers here from the seventeenth to the nineteenth century. Hardly anywhere else in Europe do deciduous trees grow so close to the coast as here. But at a price: many trees have been cut back by the biting west wind and the blowing salt.
