Christmas route through Wijchen

This time a shorter route and we start a little later. The idea for this route is to capture Christmas window displays:

Nice Christmas decorations in the center of Wijchen.

We start at 9:30 am at Zaal Sterrebosch and walk through the Sterrebosweg . Then turn right into Spoorstraat ; We can photograph shop windows and the street scene in both streets. Most shops don't open until after 9:30 am, hence the somewhat late start. The length of the route has also been adjusted accordingly.

At the end of the shopping part of the Spoorstraat we enter the back of the castle garden and walk to the front of the castle . Pass under the castle gate towards the old Town Hall . That is still possible, because that building will soon be demolished... [ Historical images! ]

Via Europaplein we go to Meester van Coothlaan and turn right there ( past the special bus stop... ). We follow the road around the bend, towards the police station. There we cross the Meerdreef and cross the bridge over the Wijchens Meer, after which we turn right and walk along the water for a while.

Then slowly towards the center again. We walk via the memorial rock in the Kloosterpark to the Oud Ravensteinseweg . Then immediately turn left into Oude Klapstraat and then turn right into Burchtstraat opposite Bij Fien . In the Burchtstraat we can go wild again with photographing shop windows.

At the Spoorstraat turn right and enter the' Kromme Elleboog'. Then via the west side of the Markt to the Touwslagersbaan . Enough shop windows again... After the Touwslagersbaan we go via the Threshing Wing

and along the back of the large supermarket.

We cross halfway through the parking lot to arrive at the historic part of the Laantje . At the end of it we take a look at the Tienakker chapel , which has now been converted into a house.

After the most beautiful part of that lane , immediately turn right twice and then past the cemetery towards St. Anthony Abbot . We cross the Markt again (the east side), but now towards the' catering street',

where we can enjoy a nice lunch at Zaal Sterrebosch around 12 o'clock.

It has been agreed with Geert Sanders that we can get soup and a croquette sandwich for EUR 9.70. An extra luxurious sandwich or sausage rolls is EUR 3.20. Coffee or tea is at your own expense. But we consciously chose this end to a beautiful walking year .
