Between Leiden and Alphen aan de Rijn you can enjoy beautiful views and numerous mills. In the middle of the polder lies the Hondsdijkse mill, a ground sailer. The Achthovensemolen is a beautiful one; this hollow post mill from 1893 is located south of the Doeshofmolen on the Ruigekade. You follow the Oude Rijn from Alphen aan de Rijn to Leiden. You should definitely get off here to experience the atmosphere! Oude Ade, Rijpwetering and Woubrugge are picturesque villages. Be sure to squeeze your brakes here. The De Vrouw Venner mill dates from 1835 and is one of the many mills in the municipality of Kaag en Braassem. The municipality of Kaag en Braassem even has the most mills in the whole of the Netherlands: 20!
