Noordoostpolder, Flevoland, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 448331

Less than a hundred years ago, the turbulent Zuiderzee rippled and pounded on the coasts of Friesland and Overijssel. Part of the former seabed is now covered with new land: the Noordoostpolder. Discover this cycling paradise!
Museum Schokland
For centuries, Schokland was an island in the Zuiderzee. Due to the reclamation in 1942, the water around the island disappeared and a unique part of the Netherlands was created. UNESCO has therefore designated this area as a World Heritage Site. You drive here, among other things, through the Schokkerbos, which was planted in the 1940s. In the Schokland Museum you can learn more about the history of Schokland.
Kuinderbos
The Kuinderbos is the largest and oldest forest in the Noordoostpolder. It was constructed in a place where the former seabed proved unsuitable for agriculture. If you get off here for a break, look at the ground: shell remains can still be found between the trees.
