Description

Your route starts at Restaurant van Hal. Just across the border you pass Anholt Castle. The origins of the impressive moated castle date back to the twelfth century. A museum has been opened in the castle. Here you will find the largest private collection of paintings in North Rhine-Westphalia, including Dutch masters such as Rembrandt. You can take a one-hour tour through various halls and salons on the first floor of the main castle, giving you insight into the almost thousand-year history of the moated castle. As part of the tour you can visit the'Fat Tower\\\' and the court kitchen from the 15th century. A little further on you will pass Huis Landfort, a castle and estate from the fifteenth century. The monumental house was extensively renovated in the eighteenth century.
