Your route starts at Jagersrust. De Maasduinen National Park is a terraced landscape on an elongated, high sandy ridge between the Maas and the German border. It consists of lower and higher sandy soils, the Maas valley and a plateau. Via Arcen you drive to Landgoed den Hamert. It forms the heart of the forest and heathlands that cover approximately 45 hectares. The forests are kept young in a natural way with Galloway cattle, sheep and goats. You drive back through Germany, where you discover Walbeck Castle. The fourteenth-century castle was for a long time in the hands of vassals of the counts and dukes of Gelre. Compared to other large buildings in Germany, the castle survived the Second World War quite well.
