Tour De Dellen and Geulzicht

Your route starts at Herberg De Geulhemermolen. A little further on, the route takes you through De Dellen, on the southern slope of the Geuldal. The name comes from sunken roads that have worn into the slope. Until the twentieth century, this area was only covered with heathland. In this beautiful rolling landscape you now walk under the canopy of pedunculate oaks, beeches and maples. The plateau and slope forest shows a beautiful transition to moist forests and grasslands, down in the valley. You also pass close to the Curfsquarry, a special place in the slope forests. Geulzicht Castle seems medieval, but it is one of the last of the castles built in the Netherlands by wealthy industrialists at the end of the 19th century.
