Tour of the Regge and Wierdense Veld

Your route starts at Bistro Le Primeur. You cycle through the idyllic Regge stream valley to the Wierdense Veld, a vast nature reserve with heathland and raised bog. It is still traditionally quiet here. You have the feeling of taking a big leap back in time, especially when you see the flock of sheep passing by. In recent years, the Wierdense Veld has become increasingly drier. A lot of work is being done to get the living raised bog area back. This is working, because species such as annual cotton grass, sundew, small cranberry, lavender heather and peat moss can already be found on the heath. Nature reserve Dakhorst is a nature reserve and water buffer in one. It is a huge magnet for birds, you can spot many different species here!
