Tour Gilze and Bels Lijntje

Your route starts at Restaurant Stad Parijs. You drive a bit through the Blaak, a forest on the edge of Tilburg. Then you drive along the Bels Lijntje: a former railway route that leads you through forests and past meadows. The construction of the Bels Lijntje took a lot of effort. For a long time, a cross-border line was unthinkable. After the secession of Belgium in 1830, both countries lived at war. Expectations about the Turnhout-Tilburg line were high, but the route was never really successful. With the completion of the Moerdijk Bridge in 1872, the railway connection via Antwerp became much more lucrative, connecting the port with Rotterdam.
