Coevorden is a beautiful old town, with Coevorden Castle as its radiant centre. A place with history, because the first castle was already here around 1025. The old fortified town was located in a strategic place between Groningen and Munster. The star-shaped city moat, the street structure and historical buildings date from after the city fire of 1592. Between Dalen and Coevorden you can take a look at the De Bente mill. The current mill was built in 1814. Before that there was another mill here, but it went up in flames in 1813 during an invasion by the French. While cycling you can regularly admire monumental buildings, such as Saxon farms. In the esdorp Dalen you will pass the Reformed Church from the fifteenth century.
