Tour of Ansen, Havelte and Meppel

Your route starts at Het Groene Geschenk. This cycle route takes you through lovely villages such as Ruinen and Ansen. Between these two villages you have a beautiful shortcut through a wooded part of the Dwingelderveld National Park, where the path meanders between the trees over small slopes in the landscape. Then you cross to the Holtingerveld. During the Second World War, the occupying forces built a large airfield here that was intensively bombed in 1945. Hence the extremely straight road just above Havelte: this is the former runway. Meppel has a rich trading history. From the Stoombootkade you look out over the historic De Vlijt Mill on the other side. Put your bike aside and explore the center!
