Description

Your route starts at Welgelegen Estate in Koekange. Koekange is a peat extraction site from the Middle Ages, in Echtenerveen. The first mention dates from 1290 and in 1331 the village received permission to build its own church. The name means Luilekkerland: Pais de Cocagne, called Cockaengen in Middle Dutch. The name was given by the miners to give peat extraction a positive spin, life was not easy here. Now that is different. After a nice walk through the village you return. Enjoy life and take some time to relax at your starting point at Landgoed Welgelegen, a nice B&B where you can also drink coffee and take a look at the Tin Museum. Nice to have a look around!
