Tour of the creeks near Krabbendijke

Your route starts at De Meiboom, a cozy village house in Krabbendijke. It is the beating heart of the community, where passers-by are very welcome. Your route takes you past a station, so you can also join straight from the train. You walk along the Pietermanskreek shipping channel to the Vinkenissekreek, one of the shipping channels in the water area between De Bevelanden and Bergen op Zoom. It is just a small remnant of the great creek it once was. Here you walk through the municipality of Reimerswaal, which is named after the city of Reimerswaal. In the Middle Ages, this was the third city in Zeeland after Middelburg and Zierikzee. Reimerswaal is literally Zeeland at its narrowest: the strip of land between the Oosterschelde and Westerschelde is only 4 kilometers wide!
