Tour Tholen and Yerseke by ferry

Your route starts at De Meiboom. From here you can take a bike ride across Tholen, via a ferry at Yerseke. Get off in Yerseke before you get on the ferry if you fancy mussels! On the other side you see the Pluimpot nature reserve, the last remnant of the channel that cut the island of Tholen in two until 1556. After the flood disaster, this channel was deemed unsafe and closed. Then you drive back along the Zoommeer, a freshwater lake west of Bergen op Zoom, at the site of the drowned land of Reimerswaal. The area is on the Natura 2000 list. The Zoommeer was created by the construction of the Oesterdam and the Markiezaatskade and is part of the Scheldt-Rhine connection between Antwerp and Rotterdam.
