Tour of the Bunder and Elslooërbos

Your route starts at't Gäöls Heukske. Today you will make a nice tour through the Bunder and Elslooërbos, a Natura 2000 area on the steep, eastern slope of the Maas valley between Elsloo and Bunde. Alder and beech mainly grow in the Bunderbos. In this humid landscape you will also see springs, streams and waterfalls. The northern forests contain calcareous springs and streams, they are among the most beautiful spring forests in our country. You will also find the only lime tuff sources in the Netherlands there. Thanks to the unique soil conditions, some special plants grow here, such as giant horsetail. In the spring the rare wild garlic, which smells like onion, blooms here. Take your time to enjoy the natural beauty at your leisure! You walk back via the village of Brommelen.
