Tour of Giersbergen and Loonse Drunense Duinen

Your route starts at Duinhoeve Recreation Park. You can cycle straight into the nature of the Loonse and Drunense Duinen. The area has been declared a National Park because of the extensive sand drifts. The living drifting sands are not found on such a large scale anywhere in Europe. Yet this national park consists of more than sand. You drive through dense deciduous and coniferous forests, fresh stream valleys and heathlands that turn beautiful purple in August. You can enjoy beautiful views through the trees. On the north side you pass through the beautiful historic hamlet of Giersbergen, the hamlet consists almost entirely of thatched long-facade farms. Here you can find nice places to stop for a coffee stop. A great reason to take a look around and soak up the atmosphere!
