Your route starts at Recreation Park Duinhoeve. Here you walk straight into the Loonse en Drunense Dunes, a sandy plain surrounded by forests that is home to many different animal and plant species that can withstand large differences in heat and cold. The Loonse en Drunense Dunes have been declared a National Park because of the extensive sand drifts. And not without reason: the living drifting sands are not found on such a large scale anywhere else in Europe. Worth protecting! In addition to the famous drifting dunes, you will also see extensive heathlands and quiet forests. Your walk will take you through the beautiful forests that surround the sand drifts. You will fully enjoy the fresh air and views of the famous drifting dunes that gave this area its nickname: the Brabant Sahara.
