Tour of Loonse Drunense Duinen

Your route starts at Duinhoeve Recreation Park. Today you take a beautiful nature walk through the Loonse and Drunense Duinen. The area has been declared a National Park because of the extensive sand drifts. The living drifting sands are not found on such a large scale anywhere in Europe. You will also see beautiful forests there. Coniferous trees predominate on the dry soils along the northern edge, while along the moist southern edge you see a lot of foliage. You walk through the woods to the sand drift with tufts of heather, which emerges beautifully between the trees. Here and there treetops protrude above the sand, these trees keep getting buried, after which the wind releases them again. Very special, the landscape here is always changing! You walk back along the wooded edge.
