Tour of Gelderse Poort and Bemmelse Waard

Your route starts at Van der Valk Hotel Nijmegen-Lent. First you take a tour of the Doornik Estate, in the middle of the Lingezegen park. This centuries-old estate has been destroyed several times by war or by the river. It has the ambition to become a stopping place for art and culture, so be sure to stop by! Then you cross the Waal for a trip through the Stadswaard and Gelderse Poort. The Bison Bay is a former sand wing where Konik horses and Galloway cattle now roam. In the Greenlands nature reserve you have a beautiful panorama of the surroundings from the lookout tower. You will also pass K01-Ooij - IJssellinie, a remnant from the Cold War. You will still find remains of tank casemates, command posts and an emergency hospital. You cycle back via pleasant Nijmegen.
