Tour of Laag-Keppel, Doetinchem and Hummelo

Your route starts at B&B Bij de Rode Beuken. You cycle along the moist forests of Hekenbroek. Many butterflies live in this nature reserve. Laag-Keppel is a monumental hotspot. Here you see Keppel Castle, which originally dates from 1350. After this castle was destroyed in 1582, it was rebuilt in the seventeenth century. Then you cycle along the beautifully meandering Oude IJssel. Get off in the cozy city center of Doetinchem! It has been beautifully rebuilt, but almost all the historic buildings were lost due to three Allied bombings. You can learn more about this at L71 on the Kruisbergseweg. Then you cycle along the edge of the Kruisbergse Bossen to the protected village view of Hummelo. You will find a surprisingly nice historic atmosphere here.
