From dramatically beautiful locations to dramatically dilapidated castles around Berg en Terblijt and Valkenburg. Near Berg en Terblijt there is also an exceptional quarry, the Geulhemmer quarry, an old marl quarry with monumental rock houses. Until 1931, these were still inhabited by block breakers, strong men who cut out marl blocks underground.
While cycling you will pass the theatrically located Geulzicht Castle, one of the most beautiful castles in South Limburg. Further around Valkenburg you will discover at least a handful of castles, from the dilapidated but no less impressive Valkenburg Castle to the charming East Castle, where The International Butler Academy was located from 2010 to 2015.
