The first kilometers you travel through a relatively flat landscape where a lot of arable farming takes place. You will soon pass the medieval Wijnandsrade castle and reach the oldest and largest castle in the Netherlands: Hoensbroek Castle, definitely worth a visit!
You continue the cycle tour along a piece of Brunssummerheide to the center of Heerlen. In the Thermenmuseum you can become acquainted with the oldest, largest and best preserved ancient building in the Netherlands: the thermal complex built by the Romans. While cycling you will pass a few more castles and back in Hulsberg you will pass the impressive Monastery of the Oblates.
