Description
Via the Hemdijk, flood defense dike from ± 1200 you cycle via Blauwhuis to IJlst. The Vitus Church is located in Blauwhuis, one of the first designs by Architect Cuypers (known for Central Station and Rijksmuseum). IJlst has a sawmill, the Rat. Via the water sports village of Oudega you arrive at the banks of the Oudegaasterbokken. De Ryp nature reserve takes you to Greonterp, known from Gerard van t Reve who wrote his books there. Greonterp has a Bell Chair. Via the old Sensmeer, which was reclaimed in 1632, you come back near Dedgum. We wish you a lot of cycling fun! Want to know more about the history?
