Tour of Brielle and Oostvoorne from Maasdijk

Your route starts at Bakkerij Vreudenhil in Maasdijk. Close to the Rotterdam port area, you can enjoy cycling in a surprisingly green and quiet area: Voorne-Putten. You drive through a landscape where fields, dikes, nature reserves and sights alternate. The largely seventeenth-century fortress of Brielle is one of the best preserved defense works in the Netherlands. The fortress belt has been restored, you can admire nine bastions and five ravelins. There once was a tram line from Rotterdam to the beach boulevard of Oostvoorne. It is still a popular destination among Rotterdam residents. In the old village center is the restored ruin of the medieval Jacoba Castle, the country residence of Jacoba of Bavaria. On the way back, stop at Boer Pait / Boerderij Hoogendonk for something tasty from the farm!
