Tour of Brielle and Oostvoorne from Maasdijk

Your route starts at Bakkerij Vreudenhil in Maasdijk. Close to the Rotterdam port area, you can cycle through a surprisingly green and peaceful area: Voorne-Putten. You cycle through a landscape where fields, dikes, nature reserves and sights alternate. The largely seventeenth-century fortress of Brielle is one of the best preserved defenses in the Netherlands. The fortress belt has been restored, you can admire nine bastions and five ravelins. There used to be a tram line from Rotterdam to the beach boulevard of Oostvoorne. It is still a popular destination for Rotterdam residents. In the old village center you will find the restored ruins of the medieval Jacobaburcht, the country residence of Jacoba van Beieren. On the way back, stop off at Boer Pait / Boerderij Hoogendonk for something tasty from the farm!
