Tour of Westland: Naaldwijk and Maasland

Your route starts at Strandpark Vlugtenburg. Westland is known as the region for greenhouse horticulture. Because of the greenhouse complexes, this area has the name of Glass City. You first take a look at the historic center of Naaldwijk. Here you see the fifteenth-century Oude Kerk. Maasland, a picturesque centuries-old mining village, is also on your route. In 1574, this area was flooded when William of Orange breached the dikes to drive out the Spaniards. You can get a breath of fresh air along the banks of the Nieuwe Waterweg while looking out at the many boats that sail here. The Staelduinse Bos is a nineteenth-century estate on former estuary dunes. Stop off at Boer Pait / Boerderij Hoogendonk along the way for something tasty from the farm!
