Cycling from Venray is cycling in a varied landscape. Forests, fens, asparagus fields, old ruins and the nicest Limburg villages. You can easily cycle into Horst via De Witte Vennen, De Diepling and Ruine Kasteel Huys ter Horst. Make time for a relaxing intermezzo on one of the terraces in the center. Or visit the famous Coppersmith Museum and the Lace Factory. Cycling further, you will witness the flourishing asparagus cultivation and harvest, especially in the spring. It is worthwhile to buy fresh white asparagus at one of the many sales points along the way.

In addition to being the epic center of mushroom cultivation and processing, Horst is also known for its white gold: asparagus. Cycle leisurely through a varied landscape back to Venray where you can take a good rest on one of the many terraces after a special cycling tour.

Cooking tip : Bring fresh asparagus to the boil with cold water, let it cook for 3 to 4 minutes and then let it rest for 15 to 20 minutes in the cooking liquid with the lid closed. Cooking a pinch of salt and a knob of butter gives the asparagus extra flavor.
