Remembrance of Camp Vught cycle route | Liberation Route Brabant

This 40 kilometer long route in and around Vught brings back memories of major events during the Second World War. The darkest chapter is the establishment of Camp Vught, a concentration camp run by the SS. This camp held tens of thousands of Dutch people, of whom more than 12,000 Jews were deported from Camp Vught to the extermination camps in the east. The stories, memorials and museums along this route bring the bleak war period to life and emphasize the importance of peace and freedom.

The Liberation Route Brabant tells the story of the liberation, but also shows what the Second World War meant for ordinary Brabant residents. Eight cycling routes, spread across North Brabant, lead you past Brabant Remembert stories, listening columns of the Liberation Route Europe, monuments and museums, which together make visible the impact of the war on North Brabant.
