Operation Market Garden cycle route | Liberation Route Brabant

Listen to the booming sound of hundreds of planes and watch thousands of parachutes fall from the sky. This is what the residents in the area of Son en Breugel experienced on September 17, 1944. Along this 46-kilometer route, you'll discover locations that highlight the epic scene of Operation Market Garden, including the Liberating Wings Museum. Here you can read, hear and experience stories about sacrifice, but also about precious moments of forgetfulness in the midst of the war. There are also stories of determined German troops and the Allied race against time to free their comrades-in-arms.

The Liberation Route Brabant tells the story of the liberation, but also shows what the Second World War meant for ordinary Brabant residents. Eight cycling routes, spread across North Brabant, lead you past Brabant Remembert stories, listening columns of the Liberation Route Europe, monuments and museums, which together make visible the impact of the war on North Brabant.
