Walking from Wanssum to Geijsteren

Your route starts at Wanssum Marina / Cafe van Wieren. In the vicinity of the Limburg villages of Wanssum and Geijsteren you can enjoy walking through quiet and lush nature reserves. Explore this beautiful area on the banks of the Maas and get to know the two villages on this route. The Molen van Geysteren is located in the town of Geijsteren. This undershot water mill was built in 1897 and replaced a predecessor that stood on the same spot. The Geijsteren estate is a beautiful authentic area with old farms and the Sint Willibordus Chapel. The Rosmolen is actually not a horse mill at all but an undershot water mill, from 1667. The mill was used as a flour mill for grinding rye. The mill house was damaged in 1944, when the bridge over the stream was blown up.
