Crossing the German border from Winterswijk

From the starting point of the route, you head towards Winterswijk. You will pass De Olliemölle. This double watermill was restored in 2014 and now houses apartments on both sides of the stream. This mill complex is one of the best-known and most photographed spots around Winterswijk. You then cycle through the small-scale landscape to the German border. Just over the German border, you cycle through the town of Oeding and through the Burlo-Vardingholter Venn und Entenschlatt, a raised bog area of approximately 100 hectares with growing raised bog, peat lakes and damp heathlands. At the edges of the peat areas, you cycle through grassland and damp forests with oaks and birches.

Taste history
Not only can you enjoy delicious food in the Berenschot\\\'s Watermolen, but you can also'taste\\\' history. This watermill was built in the seventeenth century on the Boven Slinge as part of the Plekenpol manor. From 1960 to 1984 the mill was out of action due to a major flood. After that the mill was extensively restored and today the mill is operational again.
