The rural area of Deventer

The village of Colmschate is the starting point of this route. From here you cycle to the center of Deventer. This Hanseatic city is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. While you cycle along the Singel, you will see many beautiful monumental buildings. On the right is the beautiful Rijsterborgher Park, designed by Leonard Springer, which was built at the end of the nineteenth century. On the other side of the IJssel you pass Huize Hunderen. In cozy Twello you can admire the fifteenth-century village church. In the village of Posterenk you pass the Wilpermolen: a corn mill from 1736. Then you cycle through the Wilpse Klei: a vast floodplain area where old farms still stand on mounds. You cross the river on a ferry, after which you drive back via Gorssel to Tapperij/Eethuis't Hof van Colmschate.
