The rural surroundings of Deventer

The village of Colmschate is the starting point for this route. From here, you cycle to the center of Deventer. This Hanseatic city is one of the oldest in the Netherlands. As you cycle along the Singel canal, you'll see many beautiful historic buildings. On your right is the beautiful Rijsterborgherpark, designed by Leonard Springer and laid out at the end of the nineteenth century. Across the IJssel River, you'll pass Huize Hunderen. In the charming village of Twello, you can admire the 15th-century village church, among other things. In the village of Posterenk, you'll pass the Wilpermolen, a corn mill dating back to 1736. Then you cycle through the Wilpse Klei, a vast floodplain area where old farmhouses on mounds still stand. You'll cross the river by ferry, after which you'll cycle back via Gorssel to the Tapperij/Eethuis 't Hof van Colmschate.
