Description
You make a route around Wijk bij Duurstede that takes you past some old fortified buildings and past castles. Shortly after boarding you drive past the striking Poorthuis Ruiterberg from 1917. You drive a few kilometers through the vast forests on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, after which you drive through the picturesque Amerongen. Here you can take a look at the ancient Amerongen Castle. Only the moat of Kasteel Bergestein is still partly visible in the landscape. Castle Natewisch dates from the thirteenth century, only the tower is still there. Castle Duurstede is still proudly standing. In Cothen you pass Rhijnestein, a former residential tower. At Family restaurant De Jonge Graaf you can get off for a nice meal before cycling to the last sight: Huis Doorn.
