Description
Around Wijk bij Duurstede you will take a route that takes you past several old fortified buildings and castles. Shortly after boarding you will ride past the striking Poorthuis Ruiterberg from 1917. You will ride a few kilometers through the vast forests on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, after which you will ride through the picturesque Amerongen. Here you can take a look at the centuries-old Amerongen Castle. Of Bergestein Castle, only the moat is partly still visible in the landscape. Natewisch Castle dates from the thirteenth century, only the tower is still there. Duurstede Castle is still standing proudly. In Cothen you will pass Rhijnestein, a former residential tower.
