Description

Your route starts at Grand Carré Naeve de Paort. From here you can walk straight into charming Valkenburg. Den Halder Castle is located right along the Geul, a fortified residential tower that was then located against the medieval city wall. The tower also dates from the fourteenth century, when the city wall was rebuilt. It was later converted into a residential tower. Part of the original estate is now used as a city park. Take the time to visit the Roman Catacombs. Then you walk through Ingendael: a wonderfully quiet nature reserve with flower-rich grasslands through which the Geul meanders. You have a beautiful view of Sint Gerlach Castle. You walk back via the Ravensbosch. This hilly landscape with its stream valleys and steep slopes is one of the most beautiful areas of South Limburg.
