Valkenburg, Limburg, The Netherlands
Hiking route: 4380674
Provided by: Groots Genieten
You can walk straight into the pleasant Valkenburg. Right along the Geul lies Kasteel Den Halder, a fortified residential tower that used to be against the medieval city wall. The tower also dates from the fourteenth century, when the city wall was rebuilt. Later it was converted into a residential tower. Part of the original estate is now used as a city park. Take the time to visit the Roman Catacombs. Then walk through Ingendael: a wonderfully quiet nature reserve with flowery grasslands through which the Geul meanders. You have a beautiful view of Sint Gerlach Castle. You walk back via the Ravensbosch. This hilly landscape with its stream valleys and steep slopes is one of the most beautiful areas of South Limburg.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
