City walk Vlaardingen: parks and Old Port

From your starting point you can walk straight into Stadspark't Hof and the Oranjepark, two beautiful parks that are adjacent to each other. In Het Hof you will see characteristics of landscape architecture from the Renaissance, the Golden Age and the late 19th century. A place that many Vlaardingen residents have memories of from their childhood, with the animal meadow and the pancake house. Festivals are often organized in the city park. Drop by Eetcafé De Waal for a cup of coffee! Then you walk along the Oude Haven, in line with the Vlaardingervaart, a drainage canal that dates back to the Middle Ages. Vlaardingen is considered the herring city of the Netherlands. Fishing has always been important in the history of Vlaardingen, but only after the Second World War did industry and other port activities play an important role.
