Your route starts at TOP Vlaardingen. Vlaardingen is considered the herring city of the Netherlands. Fishing has always been important in the city's history. Stop off at Eetcafé De Waal for a cup of coffee. Maasluis is a beautiful old city, here you can take a look around the historic city center. A little further on you will pass another nice town: Maasland, a centuries-old mining village. In 1574, this area was flooded when William of Orange breached the dikes to drive out the Spaniards. Then you discover the Broekpolder. This route takes you through this rugged nature reserve of forests and water features. In the Broekpolder you will find a beautiful mix of forests, open spaces and water features. It is wonderful to stroll through nature here.
