Description
Stage 7 of the Fietserspad takes you from Gennep to Venlo. Do you follow the entire Fietserspad? Then you have now arrived in the last province of this long journey. Time to get acquainted with the beautiful nature reserves and cozy places in North Limburg. This route takes you along stages 19, 20 and 21 of the Pieterpad.
Gennep's war history
At the start of this route you can immediately take a look at an attraction. In Gennep you will find L37: Sinterklaas op MariaOord, a listening point of the Liberation Route. At these listening points you will learn more about the path of the Allies during the liberation of Western Europe in 1944 and 1945. At this point in Gennep you will learn more about the lack of all kinds of food in the last months of 1944. After that it is time to return to the present. You cycle along the Maas to Heijen and Afferden. There you cross the Meuse with a ferry. You continue your way along the other bank of the Maas.
Cozy break spots
Along the way you can take a break at 't Trefpunt Geijsteren in Geijsteren or at Veerhuys Tante Jet just outside Blitterswijck. Enjoy a snack and a drink here, so that you can continue cycling full of energy afterwards. You will eventually end your tour in Venlo at the Maagdenberg.
Special sights
Places of interest that you can admire along the way are the country houses De Gun and Huis De Steegh. You will also pass through beautiful nature reserves such as the Geysteren estate, the Houthuizerheide and the Zwart Water nature reserve. That makes this bike tour a varied tour that will leave you amazed.
