Your route starts at Outdoor Roosendaal. Just before Rucphen you will pass the Heimolen, a corn mill from 1844. Then you will drive into the vast Rucphense Bossen. How wonderfully quiet it is here! Take a deep breath and enjoy the fragrant conifers. On the Rucphense Heide you can catch some sun again, before you drive back into the shade between the trees. The Strontpaal Essen is a stone where customs officers are said to have 'hid' behind in the past to do their business. Peat used to be extracted in abundance in the Pannenhoef. In dried form (peat), everything was transported to Breda and Roosendaal via peat canals as fuel for households and breweries. Now there is a beautiful nature reserve of forest, fens and flowery meadows. Rare plants grow along the fens.
