Your route starts at Outdoor Roosendaal. Just before Rucphen you pass the Heimolen, a flour mill from 1844. Then you drive into the vast Rucphense Bossen. It's so quiet here! Take a deep breath and enjoy the fragrant conifers. On the Rucphense Heide you can catch some sun again before heading back into the shade between the trees. The Shitpole Essen is a stone where customs officers used to hid behind to do their big message. In the Pannenhoef, a lot of peat used to be extracted. Everything was transported in dried form (peat) via peat barges to Breda and Roosendaal as fuel for households and breweries. Now there is a beautiful nature reserve of forests, fens and flowery meadows. Rare plants grow along the fens.
