Along the Linge, the Rijnstrangen and the Jesuit Waai

From Westervoort with the Looveer to Huissen and then via Angeren to the Linge cycle path. This is a beautiful path along the Linge and brings you to Castle Doornenburg (known to the elderly as the castle of the TV series Floris). From there the trip goes to the ferry Doornenburg - Pannerden. But close to the ferry (junction 80) the recently restored and reopened Fort Pannerden can be visited: highly recommended.  On the other side of the Pannerdensch canal, if desired, you can drive directly from junction 88 to junction 55 via the Hogeweg in Pannerden. Where the Hogeweg crosses the Deukerdijk, it is very worthwhile to turn right to the Gemaal Oude Rijn (also known as Gemaal van Bach and (recognizable by the tower)), which opened in 2016. A great place for coffee or lunch. is beautifully situated in nature, the old pumping station can be visited and there is an art exhibition.  Back on the route you will pass the Rijnstrangen - a fantastic nature reserve where you can go for walks with pontoons.  A very important tip is to Do not go off the Leuvensedijk at junction 54, but continue straight ahead on the dike along the winds. A new cycle path takes you past breathtakingly beautiful nature, including birds, frogs, horses and natural cows. Following the red dotted line on the map, you will come via the Kandia pumping station and the mammoth at junction 65. Almost back at the starting point (between junctions 61 and 89), we recommend following the red dotted line again: You can see the battens v an Room for the River, goes down there and through the opening and up again on the other dike. At the top you are at the IJsselkop (the place where the Geldersche IJssel rises. A little further on is a listening monument of the Liberation Route that marks the location from which Arnhem was (eventually) liberated in April 1945. The route is also suitable for mobility scooters.
