The borg itself is a stately mansion that bears witness to former grandeur. The garden, designed in the strict French style of the eighteenth century, has clean shapes and straight lines. The contrast is great with the forest that extends beyond it, the Midwolderbos. Here nature is allowed to take its course and over the years the forest looks more and more natural and varied. This is ensured by the Konik horses that roam freely here and decide for themselves where they graze. The forest is a regional stronghold of many species of birds and other animals and is known for its wealth of mushrooms.
