Description

The road leads on mainly natural paths to Hutewald, an area of 13.6 hectares, which was used as pasture until about 1950. With its own flora and fauna, the Hutewald has been protected for many years.

Where poor farmers once tended their livestock, bizarre tree giants such as beech and oak with scattered treetops are spaced apart, inviting children to climb, hide and play. To maintain this typical character, extensive precautions are carried out.

Along the way, hikers can enjoy a wonderful view of the Alheimer (549 m), the Großer Inselberg in Thüringen (916 m), the Knüllköpfchen (634 m) and the"Hohen Meißner\\\" (754 m). You can also view the"Studentensteine\\\". Legend has it that three students on their way from Marburg to Göttingen in the 16th century were attacked and murdered here.
